New Maryland based company with extensive product line bath and body products.
Newlyweds Rachel and Matthew Timmerman launch Athena's Olive Tree, a company featuring a wide range of beautifully handcrafted, natural bath and body products.

/Cosmetics News Articles/ - ROCKVILLE, MD, July 23, 2008 - Rachel Timmerman, co-founder of Athena's Olive Tree, struggled with irregular breakouts and problem skin. Rachel visited numerous dermatologists who prescribed a variety of oral and topical medications. Unfortunately, none of these expensive medical treatments truly produced the results she truly desired. After years of frustration, Rachel decided to take matters into her own hands experimenting with creating her own natural products. She began with simple masks made out of ordinary kitchen ingredients. To her surprise, many of these recipes produced surprising results surpassing her initial expectations.

Over the next few years, she continued to learn more of the uses and benefits of natural ingredients while continuing to refine her recipes. Rachel also became more aware of the importance of product quality and ingredient labels. "I realized that many of the products that I had been buying, thinking that they were all-natural like Shea Butter, actually only had a really small amount of Shea!" says Rachel. "I was able higher quality products from scratch and for only a fraction of the cost."

Shortly after her wedding, Rachel's husband Matthew suggested that they explore selling some of her products. Rachel thought it was a great idea, but was unsure if the idea was truly viable. She decided share some of her products with their friends and they all received rave reviews with many of their friends requesting more. Shortly afterwards, they launched Athena's Olive Tree and now sell various products including soaps, butters, and melts as well as spa quality gift baskets and products specifically created for children.

One of their customers, Brenda Brown, had this to say: "I have very sensitive skin so I'm skeptical about trying new facial products. However, the Spiced Oatmeal Soap bar that I have been using from Athena's Olive Tree has been fantastic. It's nice to be able to use something natural and not have the skin problems that I have with so many other products available on the market, and at such a good price!" Another customer, Sharon Gunes, said: "They left my skin feeling moist and so fresh and are wonderfully scented. The sea scented soap took me back to my childhood vacations on Cape Cod and the scent of the quaint little shops. When I used the scrub, my skin was so smooth. I did not need to moisturize after. I spent so long in the shower that I was late to the office!"

Since Rachel and Matthew are determined to help protect the earth, they ship many of their orders using recycled boxes and packaging supplies. They also donate five percent of profits to causes close to their hearts including "Be Green Now," "Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation," and "The Foundation for Fighting Blindness."
