ASTON, PA, November 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vanessa Lynn Suter, Retired Police Officer at The Chester Police Department, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in law enforcement.
With 20 years of professional experience, Ms. Suter attributes her success to the support of her family and friends. She started in drugs, narcotics and vice where she worked undercover. She also became a certified D.A.R.E. teacher, and worked patrol for three years. After working patrol, she became one of the department's scope operators, where her duties consisted of monitoring all calls officers went on, ran tags for stolen cars, ran drivers licenses, checked weapons permits, and checked for warrants of arrest. She also worked as one of the department's turnkeys (jailer), responsible for the care, custody and control of all prisoners. Prior to becoming a police officer, she worked at the Delaware County Prison, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve (while still holding that full time position) where she attained the rank of corporal. During that time, she was a psychiatric specialist working with veterans treated for post-traumatic stress disorder, and was honorably discharged.
In her last role with the police department before retiring, Ms. Suter created and implemented the department's computerized crime statistics, reported to the F.B.I., Pennsylvania State Police, the Mayor of the City of Chester, and the Chief of Police. She holds certifications in narcotics, first aid, identification, driving, fingerprints, CPR and drug testing. In addition, she held expert witness status in the field of narcotics with the local county court. She is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Grand Lodge. Since retiring in March 2010, she has maintained an active lifestyle and is currently an independent contractor with an online business selling Avon products.
